PHOENIX — Air France plans to offer nonstop flights between Phoenix and Paris ahead of the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympic Games in France's capital city.
Yes, residents of the Valley of the Sun will soon have an easier pathway to get to the famous City of Light.
Mayor Kate Gallego announced Monday that Sky Harbor International Airport will start offering direct flights to Paris by May 2024, notably right before France will host the Olympic games.
"Charles de Gaulle Airport, here we come," the mayor said during a press conference.
Gallego said the arrival of Air France at Sky Harbor is a "big win" for Phoenix and is a sign of the remarkable growth that's recently occurred in the Valley.
Paris was one of the most popular European destinations to not have direct flights to Phoenix, the mayor added, so the city pursued a way to meet that market demand.
The first Air France flight is expected to arrive at Sky Harbor on May 23, 2024.
