Will this new airline at Sky Harbor let you fly with your dog? Yes, but it's not for everyone.

The airline offers a unique premise: fly to where you need to go right alongside your dog. But the price of a ticket is a little "ruff."
"Bark Air" is getting bigger. Here's how its expanding.

PHOENIX — There's a new airline coming to Sky Harbor International Airport, and it's a lot cuter than the competition.

Bark Air, the airline behind the "plane just for dogs," recently announced seven new domestic and international routes for pet-loving passengers. One of those will connect Sky Harbor to Chicago Midway Airport, starting Nov. 23.

The airline took flight last month and has since been turning heads (and wagging tails) for people who don't want to separate from their pets for long-distance travel.

"Over a decade in the making, this initiative represents the evolution of our original mission. BARK Air is not just a service; it's a celebration of the love and companionship we share with our dogs. It's about refusing to settle for the status quo and making the seemingly impossible, possible," the company says on its website.

But doing the impossible doesn't come cheap and the price of a ticket is kind of "ruff."

A one-way flight from Phoenix to Chicago will run you $6,000 according to Bark Air's booking site as of June 17. It's cheaper than their competitor, K9 Jets, which costs about $9,000 for a ticket, but still significantly more expensive than traditional flight options.

Also, there are only two flights currently scheduled: one in November and the other in December.

Still, if this is an option in your ballpark — or should we say dog park? — the airline offers in-flight treats and entertainment for your dog in addition to normal amenities.

And if you're not flying, Bark Air's parent company, Bark, sells doggie dental treats, delivers dog food and toys, and offers monthly subscription boxes for your dog.
