AVONDALE, Ariz. — A wrong-way driver was arrested after leading Department of Safety Troopers on a pursuit on Interstate 10 Thursday evening.
According to DPS, around 9 p.m., troopers were alerted to a wrong-way driver on westbound I-10 near MP 131 that was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes.
DPS said troopers contacted the vehicle that self-corrected and took off from them.
Troopers said a pursuit was initiated, and DPS used a grappler device to stop the vehicle, but it continued to flee. Troopers were able to box the car in on westbound I-10 at the Avondale Boulevard off-ramp.
Grapplers are used by multiple Valley police agencies to wrap around the rear tire of a vehicle attempting to evade police.
DPS troopers told 12News the female driver, identified as Sadie Kelly, had three kids in the car and will be charged with aggravated DUI.
No injuries have been reported at this time.
DPS said the off-ramp is closed while troopers work to clear the scene.
