Woman dies following crash in north Phoenix

The crash took place near 19th Avenue and Cactus Road on Oct. 14, police say.

PHOENIX — A woman died following a car crash in north Phoenix on Saturday evening, police said.

Phoenix police officers responded to the area of 19th Avenue and Cactus Road regarding a crash involving a pedestrian on Oct. 14 around 6:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a woman with serious injuries. The woman was transported to a hospital, but died from her injuries. 

The car involved in the crash stayed at the scene, police said. Detectives took over the investigation and determined that the woman was likely crossing 19th Avenue, mid-block, when she was hit by the car traveling north on 19th Avenue.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor, according to police, but all other details leading up to the crash are not available yet, police said.

The identity of the woman who was hit and the person driving the vehicle that hit her have not been released.
