PHOENIX — A woman is dead after a crash in west Phoenix, the city's police department said.

Phoenix police officers responded to a crash near 67th Avenue and Indian School Road in west Phoenix around 9:30 p.m. on Friday. When officers got there, they found 47-year-old Latisha Sterling injured and lying in the road.

The fire department took Sterling to the hospital where she later died from her injuries. The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash stayed at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, police said.

Police said it appears Sterling was crossing Indian School Road, allegedly not in a crosswalk, and was hit by a vehicle traveling west.

No other information was provided and the investigation into the crash is still underway.
