PHOENIX — A woman is dead after her vehicle crashed into a commercial fuel tanker on State Route 202 South Mountain Freeway, Department of Public Safety officials said.
The crash happened around 10:38 p.m. on Monday at milepost 75, just north of Buckeye Road.
According to DPS reports, the 38-year-old woman rear-ended the tanker and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigators are working to learn what led up to the crash. DPS did not release the woman's identity.
The tanker was slightly damaged but did not leak onto the roadway.
