What freeways are closed this weekend? Here's your Phoenix traffic report for Nov. 15 - Nov. 18

Here is a breakdown of the closures and detours on Valley roads this weekend.

PHOENIX — It's the weekend! Now it's time to get out and about and explore, take advantage of the beautiful Arizona weather.

But before you take off, there are a few closures and detours on the Valley freeways that drivers need to be aware of. Parts of Interstate 10 and Loop 202 will be closed.

The Arizona Department of Transportation recently shared the news of the closures on their X (formerly Twitter) feed. Here are a few notable reminders.

Interstate 10

  • Eastbound I-10 will be narrowed to two lanes between the I-17 “Split” interchange near Sky Harbor Airport and US 60 from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday for the Broadway Curve Improvement Project. 
  • Expect eastbound I-10 on-and off-ramp closures in the area starting at 8 p.m. Friday. All east-and westbound I-10 ramps to eastbound US 60 will be closed. The southbound I-17 ramp to eastbound I-10 near Sky Harbor Airport is also expected to be closed. Along with the eastbound US 60 on-ramp at Priest Drive.
  • Detour: Consider using eastbound Loop 202 starting at the SR 51 “Mini-Stack” interchange to southbound Loop 101 in Tempe and westbound US 60 or westbound Loop 202

State Route 87

  • State Route 87 will be narrowed to one lane in both directions between McDowell Road and Shea Boulevard in Fountain Hills from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday for the Ironman Arizona event. 
  • Westbound McKellips Road is set to be closed between Loop 202 and Alma School Road. Eastbound Loop 202 off-ramp at McKellips Road is expected to be restricted. 
  • Expect other local street restrictions in the area. Allow extra travel time and use caution. Detour: Alternate routes include eastbound Shea Boulevard from Loop 101 in Scottsdale to SR 87 in Fountain Hills.

Loop 202

  • Eastbound Loop 202 will close between McQueen and Cooper roads in the southeast Valley from 11:59 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday for sign structure removal as part of a widening project. Westbound Loop 202 HOV lane will also be closed between Cooper and McQueen roads. Detour: Consider using Pecos or Germann roads.
  • Westbound Loop 202 is set to be closed between Cooper and McQueen roads from 11:59 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday for sign structure removal. Eastbound Loop 202 HOV lane will be closed between McQueen and Cooper roads. Detour: Consider using Pecos or Germann roads.
