Crash on I-10 near Verrado Way leaves 3 children severely injured

The crash happened Wednesday evening, causing heavy delays on the highway. DPS recently released more details.

PHOENIX — Several people, including three children are in the hospital after a crash on Interstate 10 near Verrado way Wednesday night, according to new details released by the Department of Public Safety.

The crash happened shortly before 9 p.m. when a Nissan SUV veered off the roadway, traveled over the concrete barrier, and crashed into another SUV in the westbound lanes.

Both vehicles were occupied by one adult and two juvenile passengers, DPS said.

All four of the children were taken to the hospital. Two of them suffered severe injuries while a third's injuries were considered life-threatening.

The woman driving the Nissan was also admitted to the hospital.

DPS is still investigating the crash.
