West Phoenix crash involving pedestrian leaves 1 injured

Police say the driver of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian did not show signs of intoxication.

PHOENIX — A pedestrian was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was allegedly hit by a vehicle in west Phoenix, the city's police department said.

Phoenix police officers were called to a crash near 51st Avenue and McDowell Road at about 6 p.m. on Thursday. When officers got to the area, they found a man with critical injuries.

The man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The woman who was driving the car that allegedly hit the pedestrian stayed at the scene and showed no signs of intoxication, police said.

Police did not give any further details of what led up to the crash or the identities of those involved.
