Vehicle catches fire following crash on Loop 303 near Indian School Road

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the hospital, ADOT says.

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — A person is dead following a vehicle fire in Goodyear on Loop 303 northbound on Tuesday night.

A crash happened on Loop 303 near Indian School Road where one car ended up engulfed in flames. Loop 303 was closed at Thomas Road during the cleanup, according to ADOT.

The fire could be seen from ADOT cameras in the area. Witnesses told investigating troopers that the vehicle was traveling at high speeds before losing control and colliding with the metal overhead sign board support off of the roadway, ADOT said.

The driver was partially ejected from the vehicle and transported to the hospital, where the driver was pronounced dead, ADOT said.
