PHOENIX — A motorcyclist died after a traffic crash on Thursday night in Phoenix, according to officials with the Phoenix Police Department.
Officials said 44-year-old Ralph Shepard Jr. was riding his motorcycle north on 48th Street near McDowell Road around 9 p.m. when a car made a left turn in front of him. Shepard hit the car's passenger side and then another car, that was also going north on 48th Street, hit him, officials said.
He was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.
Phoenix police said the car that caused the crash left the scene and was last seen "driving east through an ally near Willetta Street with damage to the passenger side of the car." The second car that hit Shepard stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Detectives ask that anyone with information call into Silent Witness. Callers can dial 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO to provide a tip and all callers will stay anonymous.
