YAVAPAI COUNTY, Ariz. — At least one person has been killed in a multi-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 93 northwest of the Valley, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
DPS said the crash happened at 2:41 p.m. on Sunday on Highway 93 at milepost 165. That's about five miles northwest of the junction of Highway 93 and State Route 71 near the town of Congress.
DPS added that the crash happened when a vehicle driving south moved into the northbound lanes to pass a semi truck and struck a group of four motorcyclists. One of the riders was thrown from his bike and died on the scene.
No one involved has been identified by name.
The southbound lanes of Highway 93 were closed at the junction with Interstate 40 in Mohave County. Those lanes reopened at about 7:45 p.m. The northbound lanes were closed at the junction with State Route 71, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. ADOT said the northbound lanes reopened at about 7:53 p.m.
