One lane open on US 60 near Wickenburg after fire

A load of hay in a trailer caught on fire, which spread to nearby brush, officials said.

WICKENBURG, Ariz. — A fire closed US 60 in both directions near Wickenburg Wednesday afternoon, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. 

Officials with the Arizona DPS said a load of hay in a trailer caught on fire and spread to nearby brush. The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management responded and contained the fire.

The eastbound side of the highway is still closed, but traffic is alternating in the westbound lanes, ADOT officials said Wednesday night.

Approximately one acre burned, officials said.
