21-year-old woman dead following crash involving City of Phoenix garbage truck

The fatal crash occurred Thursday near Union Hills Drive and 19th Avenue in north Phoenix, police say.

PHOENIX — A woman is dead following a crash Thursday involving a City of Phoenix garbage truck, police said.

Phoenix police responded to the area of Union Hills Drive and 19th Avenue in north Phoenix for a pedestrian crash at around 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 15. Officers found a woman with serious injuries. 

The woman did not survive her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. 

Preliminary information suggests the pedestrian was walking in a marked crosswalk before she was hit by the truck. Impairment is not suspected of causing the crash.

Police said the deceased woman has been identified as 21-year-old Orianna Nicole Diosdado.
