PHOENIX — Parts of State Route 303 that were closed after a semi-truck trailer full of Twix candy bars caught fire on the highway have reopened, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.
The driver of the truck reportedly heard a popping sound around 4:56 a.m. and pulled over, according to a report from the Department of Public Safety.
The back-right wheel on the trailer had caught fire, which then was seen spreading to the rest of the trailer. DPS confirmed that the trailer was full of candy.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
ADOT temporarily closed all westbound lanes at 43rd Avenue due to the fire. The roadway has since reopened.
