Train, vehicle crash closes part of road in Mesa

Officials say Alma School and Extension roads will reopen soon.

MESA, Ariz. — A vehicle hit a train in Mesa, the city's police said. Alma School and Extension roads are expected to reopen soon after being closed for the crash.

Mesa police responded to a call near Alma School and Extension roads regarding a crash between a train and a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon. Police said the vehicle was traveling northbound on Alma School Road when it approached the tracks and didn't stop in time, hitting the railroad gate and then the train itself. 

No injuries were reported, and the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and will be checked for impairment.
