=================================

A pursuit involving troopers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) led to a crash that has closed part of State Route 87, also known as the Beeline Highway, in Mesa, according to DPS.

DPS tells 12News the chase started when a trooper attempted to stop a driver for criminal speeding. The driver did not stop and the trooper started pursuing them.

The driver ended up losing control of the car, which rolled over. The driver was injured and taken to a nearby hospital and a passenger in the car was not hurt.

The driver of the speeding car has not been identified.

ADOT said the northbound lanes of SR 87 are closed at milepost 182, which is near Gilbert Road.

The southbound side of the freeway is open, but the left lane is blocked.

ADOT said there is currently no timeline for reopening the road and is advising drivers in the area to expect delays and find another route to their destination.
