PHOENIX — A shooting caused a portion of southbound Interstate 17 to close at McDowell Road on Saturday night, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Phoenix Police Department.

DPS told 12News they were assisting with traffic control for the incident, which is a Phoenix police investigation and happened at milepost 199 (Grant Street).

Phoenix police told 12News they were called to I-17 and Grant Street due to the shooting just before 10 p.m. on Saturday. When officers got to that area, they found a man who had been shot. He was taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the man who had been shot "refused prosecution" and is not cooperating with officers.

Detectives are now investigating what led up to the shooting.

This is a developing story and more details will be added as they are made available.
