Several teens injured in crash in south Phoenix

At least eight people have been taken to area hospitals, police said.

PHOENIX — Several teens are injured following a crash near 19th Avenue and Buckeye Road in south Phoenix, police said.

Phoenix police officers responded to a call of a crash involving a van and a car around 4 p.m. on Dec. 15. The van was occupied with two adults and four minors, police said. All of them were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The car was occupied with four teenagers, police said. All of them were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Detectives who responded to take over the investigation said early information indicates the van was going east on Pima Street and the car was driving south on 19th Avenue when they hit one another. Police said there were no signs of impairment for the driver of the van and it is unknown if impairment was a factor for the driver of the car.

No other information about the crash was released.
