TONOPAH, Ariz. — An overturned gasoline tanker caused the closure of westbound Interstate 10 near Tonopah on Saturday, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.
Trooper responded to reports of explosions in the area when they found the tanker with a ruptured tank on fire on the right side of the roadway, ADOT said.
The operator of the tanker was found dead at the scene, ADOT said. Preliminary evidence reportedly points to the tanker drifting left and then overcorrected, which led the driver to lose control and crash.
