PHOENIX — A section of Interstate 10 in Phoenix will be closed this weekend to allow for pavement marking and sign work.

The closure will apply to the westbound lanes of I-10 between the US 60 and Interstate 17, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The closure starts on Oct. 18 at 10 p.m. and ends on Oct. 21 at 4 a.m.

Motorists in the East Valley needing to get the West Valley can avoid the closure by using the Loop 202 freeway to connect with I-10 at 59th Avenue.

The best route for getting to the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport is going northbound on the Loop 101 freeway to westbound Loop 202 and using the Sky Harbor Boulevard entrance.

Another detour drivers can use is taking eastbound Loop 202 or US 60 to northbound Loop 101 to westbound Loop 202 to access westbound I-10 beyond the closure.

The following ramps will also be closed this weekend:

  • Ramps from westbound US 60 to westbound I-10
  • The southbound State Route 143 ramp to westbound I-10
  • The westbound I-10 on-ramps at Elliot, Baseline and Broadway roads, and 40th and 32nd streets
  • The westbound US 60 on-ramps at McClintock Drive, Rural Road and Mill Avenue
