CHANDLER, Ariz. β A boy is dead after a rollover crash on Interstate 10 eastbound near Queen Creek Road, Department of Public Safety officials confirmed.
According to early reports, the crash happened shortly before 6:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near SR 347. An SUV suffered a tire failure as it entered the highway and swerved into the dirt median, DPS said.
The SUV then re-entered the highway, rolled over and was struck by a pickup truck.
The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries, but the boy, identified by family members as Donald Harms, in the front seat died, DPS said.
Harm's mother said they were driving home to Tucson when the back rear tire on her car blew out.
