Brush fire causes miles-long traffic backup on State Route 87 near Rye

RYE, Ariz. — A brush fire burning in Rye has caused a miles-long traffic backup on State Route 87 southbound, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).

ADOT said the fire is burning near milepost 237.

The backup is estimated to be about five miles, according to ADOT.
