PHOENIX — Here's a breakdown of the current closures and detours drivers will find on Valley roads this weekend.
EAST VALLEY:
- Eastbound I-10 is closed between US 60 and Loop 202 from 10 p.m. Friday, August 26 to 10 p.m. Saturday, August 27, for paving and installation of vehicle-count devices and overhead signs. At the same time, the following ramps are closed: westbound US 60 ramp to eastbound I-10; the HOV ramps in both directions that connect I-10 and US 60; the eastbound I-10 on-ramps at Broadway, Baseline, Elliot, Warner, and Ray Roads. Drivers can use Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway or eastbound US 60 to southbound Loop 101 to westbound Loop 202 to access eastbound I-10 beyond the closure. West valley drivers can bypass the closure by using the Loop 202 south and east to connect with I-10 south of Chandler Boulevard.
- Westbound Loop 202 is closed between Val Vista Drive and Gilbert Road in the southeast valley from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for lane striping and other work on the Lindsay Road interchange project. Westbound Loop 202 on-ramps Santan Village Parkway and Williams Field Road are closed. Drivers can exit ahead of the closure, and use local routes, including westbound Williams Field or Germann Roads.
- Westbound I-10 is narrowed to two lanes between Southern Avenue and Broadway Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday for bridge work.
- Westbound I-10 is narrowed to two lanes at Baseline Road from 10 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday for concrete work. At the same time, the westbound I-10 Baseline Road off-ramp is closed. Drivers can use the westbound I-10 off-ramp at Broadway Road instead.
- Eastbound I-10 is narrowed to two lanes at Warner Road from 8 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday for pavement work. At the same time, the eastbound I-10 off- and on-ramps at Warner Road is closed. Drivers can use the eastbound I-10 off-ramp at Ray Road and eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Chandler Boulevard instead.
WEST VALLEY:
- Eastbound I-10 is narrowed to one lane between Miller Road and Verrado Way in Buckeye from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a widening project. Please allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through all work zones.
- Drivers heading to the east valley should plan on delays and expect to take alternate routes with closures and restrictions in place on I-10.
PHOENIX:
- Eastbound I-10 is closed between US 60 and Loop 202 from 10 p.m. Friday, August 26 to 10 p.m. Saturday, August 27, for paving and installation of vehicle-count devices and overhead signs. At the same time, the following ramps are closed: westbound US 60 ramp to eastbound I-10; the HOV ramps in both directions that connect I-10 and US 60; the eastbound I-10 on-ramps at Broadway, Baseline, Elliot, Warner, and Ray Roads. Drivers can use Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway or eastbound US 60 to southbound Loop 101 to westbound Loop 202 to access eastbound I-10 beyond the closure. West valley drivers can bypass the closure by using the Loop 202 south and east to connect with I-10 south of Chandler Boulevard.
- North and southbound State Route 51 off-ramps at Northern Avenue are closed until 6 p.m. Saturday for City of Phoenix paving project. Expect lane restrictions on Northern Avenue near State Route 51. Travelers can exit State Route 51 to westbound Glendale Avenue and use northbound 16th Street to reach Northern Avenue.
- Southbound I-17 is reduced to one lane at three locations between Kelly Canyon Road and Stoneman Lake Road (mileposts 330-328, 323-320, and 313-311) seven days a week through October. A vehicle width of 13 feet is in place. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph. Drivers should be prepared to stop and proceed through the work zones with caution.
- The southbound I-17 on- and off-ramps at Newman Park Road are closed. Drivers can use northbound I-17 to the Kelly Canyon Road exit, cross over the interstate and re-enter the highway driving southbound on I-17. Drivers can use southbound I-17 to the Willard Springs Road exit, cross over the interstate and re-enter the highway driving northbound I-17 to Newman Park Road. A vehicle width limit of 13 feet is in place. The project, which is expected to be completed in fall of 2024, is improving 29 miles of pavement on southbound I-17 from the McConnell Drive Bridge in Flagstaff to the Coconino County line.
