Phoenix highway closures: What you need to know about for Sept. 27 weekend

Here is a breakdown of the closures and detours on Valley roads this weekend.

PHOENIX — It's the weekend and we are all ready to unwind and enjoy some much needed rest and relaxation. For some, that may mean hitting the road for a trip.

But before you take off, there are a few closures and detours on Valley roadways you need to be aware of. Parts of Interstate 10 and Loop 101 will be closed.

The Arizona Department of Transportation recently shared some news on closures on their X (formerly Twitter) feed. Here are a few notable reminders.

Interstate 10

  • The westbound lanes of I-10 will be closed between Loop 202 and the US 60 from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday for paving and a traffic shift. The westbound I-10 on-ramp at Wild Horse Pass Boulevard and the westbound US 60 off-ramps at McClintock Drive, Rural Road and Mill Avenue will be closed.
    • Detour: Westbound I-10 traffic can detour on eastbound Loop 202 to northbound Loop 101 and westbound Loop 202.

If you're going to Sunday’s Cardinals game, ADOT recommends you consider using westbound/northbound Loop 202 to reach I-10 near 59th Avenue.

Most of the ramp closures during this timeframe are expected to begin at 8 p.m. Friday. You can learn more at I10BroadwayCurve.com.

Loop 101

  • The eastbound Loop 101 is set to close between 75th and 51st avenues from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Northbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Bell Road and Union Hills Drive will be closed during that time.
    • Detour: Traffic will detour along the eastbound Loop 101 Beardsley frontage road. Drivers also can consider exiting ahead of the closure and using local streets including Union Hills Drive to northbound 51st Avenue.

As always, please stay alert and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through work zones.
