PHOENIX — A motorcyclist is dead following a crash in central Phoenix early Saturday morning, the city's police said.
Phoenix police officers responded to the area of 22nd Street and Indian School Road around 12:30 a.m. Saturday for a crash involving a motorcyclist.
When officers got to the scene, they found the injured motorcyclist, later identified as 27-year-old Ansar Azim.
Anzim was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries and did not survive.
Authorities said the other vehicle, a Jeep, appeared to be making a left turn from 22nd Street to go east on Indian School Road when he failed to yield to the right of way and was hit on the side by the motorcyclist, who was driving west on Indian School Road.
The driver of the Jeep, only identified as a 53-year-old man by police, remained at the scene and detectives are investigating whether or not he was impaired and charges may be filed after a toxicology report and reconstruction of the crash are completed.
