PHOENIX — A man has died after being hit by a car while crossing the street in Phoenix and now an investigation is underway to see if the driver was impaired, according to Phoenix police.
Police said 46-year-old Peter Klabanos was crossing the street near 29th Street and Thomas Road when he was hit by a car.
When police got to the scene, they found Klabanos with serious injuries. He died at the scene, officials said.
An investigation showed Klabanos was crossing Thomas Road when he was hit by a car traveling west, according to police.
The man who was driving the car stayed at the scene and authorities said he showed signs of impairment. The driver was processed for a DUI and has been released.
Police said they will decide whether or not to charge the driver with other crimes after a toxicology report is complete.
No other details about the crash were released.
