Police investigating after 60-year-old woman struck, killed by U-Haul truck in Tempe

Tempe police said the incident happened just after 6 p.m. near McClintock Drive and Curry Road.

TEMPE, Ariz. — A 60-year-old woman died Friday evening after she was struck by a U-Haul truck in Tempe, according to police.

Tempe police said the incident happened just after 6 p.m. near McClintock Drive and Curry Road.

Authorities said preliminary information indicates that the U-Haul truck was traveling northbound on McClintock Drive when it made a westbound turn into a private drive near Curry Road and struck the woman who was walking in an unknown direction on the sidewalk.  

Police said the woman was provided medical aid but ultimately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.  

The driver remained on scene and cooperated with police, and impairment was not a factor, police said.

Police are not identifying the victim at this time.
