PHOENIX — A pedestrian is dead following a crash in central Phoenix early Saturday morning, the city's police department reports.
Phoenix police officers responded to the area near Galvin Parkway and McDowell Road for a crash around 1 a.m. When officers got there, they found a pedestrian on the road who was dead and several vehicles stopped nearby.
Detectives spoke to witnesses and learned that the pedestrian was on the road, for unknown reasons, and was hit by an unknown vehicle driving west on McDowell Road. The unknown vehicle drove off after the crash.
A second vehicle, also heading west on McDowell, hit the pedestrian while he was lying on the road. The driver of the second vehicle stopped and called for help.
Phoenix police said the Office of the Medical Examiner responded to the scene.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to call Phoenix police or Silent Witness if they want to remain anonymous.
