Some lanes of Interstate 17 reopen after crash, vehicle fire near Anthem Way

One driver was unresponsive at the scene, Arizona DPS officials said.

PHOENIX — Two northbound lanes of I-17 near Anthem Way, north of Phoenix, have reopened after a crash involving four vehicles that caused a significant vehicle fire shut the lanes down Wednesday afternoon, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Traffic was being diverted to exit at or before Daisy Mountain Drive.

Smoke from the vehicle fire was billowing over the southbound lanes as well, but southbound lanes were unaffected by closures.

One driver was unresponsive at the scene, Arizona DPS officials said. It is unclear if anyone else was injured.

There is no estimated time as to when the road may reopen, ADOT said. 12News will keep you updated online as more information comes in.
