PHOENIX — A five-vehicle collision briefly blocked off the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 Friday afternoon as first responders rushed in to treat injured motorists.
According to the Phoenix Fire Department, four individuals were taken to the hospital for injuries sustained from a multi-vehicle crash near 7th Street. One person had to be extracted from a vehicle.
One of the patients was listed as being in "critical" condition, Phoenix fire said.
Traffic was briefly diverted to Interstate 17 but officials said the freeway's lanes have since reopened.
