East Valley crash leads to death of man who was riding a motorcycle

The crash happened near the intersection of Williams Field Road and Val Vista Drive in Gilbert Friday evening. Here are the latest details.

GILBERT, Ariz. — A man has died after a car and motorcycle collided in Gilbert on Friday evening, according to the Gilbert Police Department

Gilbert police told 12News that officers from the department and firefighters from Gilbert Fire & Rescue responded to the intersection of Val Vista Drive and Boston Street, just south of Williams Field Road, at about 6 p.m. on Friday due to the crash. 

A man who was riding the motorcycle was taken to the hospital with critical injuries and later died. 

Val Vista Drive was closed between Williams Field Road and Boston Street due to the investigation, but it reopened at about 10:15 p.m. on Friday. 

The man who was killed in the crash has not been identified.
