Man seriously injured following crash in central Phoenix

The crash involved a stolen vehicle and occurred near Glendale Avenue and 16th Street, police say.

PHOENIX — A man was seriously injured in a crash in central Phoenix, police said.

Phoenix police officers responded to a call of a crash near Glendale Avenue and 16th Street early Saturday morning which involved a car and an SUV. The driver of the car was transported to the hospital with critical injuries, police said. The driver of the SUV was transported to the hospital for possible injuries.

Detectives took over the investigation and said early information indicates the car involved in the crash was recently stolen from a nearby neighborhood. The stolen car was traveling east on Glendale Avenue and failed to stop at a red light at 12th Street.

The car crashed into the SUV, which was driving south on 12th Street.

Police did not release the identities of the drivers or any other details regarding the crash.
