Man killed after being hit by car in north Phoenix

The crash happened just east of the intersection of Cactus and Cave Creek roads on Sunday. Here are the latest details.

PHOENIX — A man has died after he was hit and killed by a car in north Phoenix, according to the Phoenix Police Department. 

The department told 12News that officers were called to a crash on Sunday near Cactus Road and Escobar Way, which is just west of the intersection of Cactus and Cave Creek roads.

When officers got to the scene of the crash, they found a man laying in the road. Firefighters later declared the man dead at the scene. 

The driver of the car involved in the crash stopped nearby and called police, the department said. 

Roads in the area are currently restricted and detectives are investigating what happened. 

Police expect to release more information about the crash on Monday.
