PHOENIX — A man was arrested in north Phoenix and is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault and driving under the influence, the city's police department said.
Phoenix police officers responded to the area of 7th Street and Greenway Road for what was initially an alleged drunk driver in the area who was involved in a crash, severely damaging the vehicle involved, police said.
The driver of the vehicle allegedly exchanged gunfire with an unknown individual, police said, before leaving the neighborhood. A nearby business reported that their business was shot at by the driver of a "similarly described vehicle."
Police found the described vehicle and a man. The vehicle was severely damaged and unable to be used, police said.
The officers gave the man commands but he refused to comply, police said. Special Assignments Unit officers responded and the man was eventually arrested.
The man was later identified as 48-year-old David Pearce, who was arrested and is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault, discharging a firearm at a non-residential structure and resisting arrest, as well as driving under the influence.
