MESA, Ariz. — Traffic was backed up on the westbound lanes of US-60 for hours after a possible hit-and-run crash happened in Mesa on Sunday night.
The crash happened near McClintock Drive around 8 p.m. As of 10 p.m., ADOT says the highway is open.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but DPS said two cars collided in the area with one of the drivers possibly speeding off afterward.
One of the vehicles crashed into the median and became engulfed in flames. An adult and two children had to be pulled out of the car that was on fire. It’s unclear if any of them were injured.
The driver was unconscious and had to be transported to a hospital.
Another crash happened on the highway near Rural Road, but it’s unclear if the two are related.
