PHOENIX — One person is dead following an alleged drive-by shooting in Laveen in Phoenix, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said.
Maricopa County Sheriff's Office patrol deputies responded to a residence near Lower Buckeye Road in Laveen in reference to a shots fired call just after 2 a.m. on Sunday. When deputies arrived, they learned that a vehicle drove by the residence began shooting at people at a house party.
One adult wads found in the front yard and was later pronounced deceased, authorities said. Deputies also found two more adults who sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Detectives from the MCSO homicide unit took over the investigation. Authorities did not release the names of those involved in the incident, nor any other details.
The Maricopa County Department of Transportation closed Lower Buckeye Road, according to a post on "X," formerly known as Twitter.
Lower Buckeye Road is closed for both east and westbound traffic between 67th and 75th avenues, authorities said. Authorities advise drivers to avoid the area.
