A 19-year-old man is dead after the crash in Laveen. Here are the latest details.

MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. — Authorities identified the 19-year-old man who died after a serious crash in Laveen on Friday night, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office

MCSO said the accident happened near the intersection of 59th and Southern avenues in Laveen. Deputies said two cars collided head-on after one of them tried to pass a car in a construction zone.

The 19-year-old, later identified as Christian Rodriquez, was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead. The driver of the other car has serious injuries, but they are non-life-threatening.

MCSO said they do not yet know whether speed, alcohol or distraction were factors in the crash. Neither driver was identified.

Roads in the area will be closed for several hours on Friday night as deputies investigate the crash.

This is a developing story and more details will be added as they are made available.
