BLACK CANYON CITY, Ariz. — Interstate 17 was reopened after a brush fire forced crews to shut down both directions Monday afternoon.
The fire broke out between Black Canyon City and Bumble Bee around 3 p.m. ADOT asked drivers to avoid the area while crews arrived to put the fire out.
As of 4:40 p.m., both lanes of traffic were open but one lane of the southbound highway was still closed near milepost 256.
The Bureau of Land Management said the fire had burned about 130 acres and its progress had been stopped.
The cause is under investigation.
