CORDES LAKES, Ariz. — The Yavapai County Office of Emergency Management said the Ironwood Fire no longer poses a threat to the Cordes Lake Community.
"We extend our gratitude to everyone for their cooperation, patience, and understanding during this time," a news release from YCOEM said.
The fire began after a motorhome fire on the shoulder of I-17 which set off ammunition in the vehicle. DPS officials have closed the northbound lanes of I-17 near Cordes Lakes.
"Everyone is out of the vehicle but there is ammunition inside that is going off which is why we stopped traffic northbound," Bart Graves, Media Relations Specialist with DPS said.
The Arizona Bureau of Land Management posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the fire is now called the Ironwood Fire and has burned about 229 acres and it is now 50% contained.
