PHOENIX — Drivers in the East Valley need to be aware of an upcoming closure on Interstate 10.
The Arizona Department of Transportation announced the eastbound I-10 off-ramp at 48th Street will close at 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9 for ramp reconfiguration. ADOT said the closure is expected to last into late 2024.
Officials advise drivers to use the eastbound I-10 off-ramp at Broadway or Baseline roads instead.
Along with the off-ramp closure, northbound 48th Street will close between Broadway Road and I-10 at 8 p.m. on Aug. 9 for pavement reconstruction. Drivers can expect this closure to last into September.
Southbound 48th Street will also close between I-10 and Broadway Road from 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, to 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12.
Here are some possible detours for northbound 48th Street:
- From 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, to 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, use westbound Broadway Road to northbound 40th Street to eastbound University Drive to access northbound State Route 143.
- Beginning 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, use westbound Broadway Road to northbound 40th Street to eastbound I-10 and exit onto the new eastbound I-10 off-ramp at Broadway Road to access 48th Street north of the closure.
Southbound 48th Street detour:
- Use westbound I-10 to southbound 32nd Street to eastbound Broadway Road to access 48th Street south of the closure.
As always, please stay alert and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through work zones.
