Phoenix gas prices fell by 60 cents over last month

The Valley's average gas prices still remain higher than Arizona's average.

PHOENIX — Average gas prices have begun to fall across the Valley but remain higher than Arizona's average.

Prices at the pump in Phoenix are about 60 cents per gallon lower than a month ago, according to GasBuddy.com. The average price per gallon of $4.36 is more than a dollar cheaper than Phoenix's average at this same time last summer.

The $2.20 per gallon price seen in June 2016 was some of the cheapest gas Phoenix has experienced over the last decade.

The cheapest station in Phoenix is currently selling gas at $3.76 per gallon and the most expensive station has a price of $5.09 per gallon.

Arizona's statewide average is $4.13 per gallon. Tucson's average is currently listed at $3.91 per gallon.

According to AAA, the cheapest gas in Arizona can be found in Cochise, Greenlee, and Graham counties.

Experts with GasBuddy said gas prices have been sporadic across the country and may not decrease by much in the near future.

"While the uncertainty over the direction of the economy is a major player in preventing oil's rise, inventories of oil and gasoline do remain tight, preventing much additional downward movement as well," Patrick De Haan, GasBuddy's head of petroleum analysis, said in a statement.

A map showing average gas prices in different parts of the Valley can be found here.
