Final Four downtown Phoenix street closures: What to know before you go

Numerous roads will be closed near the convention center and Margaret T. Hance Park in downtown Phoenix this week.

PHOENIX — As college basketball fans descend on the Valley of the Sun, navigating around town could get a bit tricky. With numerous events and various road closures in parts of the Valley, drivers need to be aware of several areas before hitting the road.

Here's a breakdown of what to expect during the week of NCAA Final Four festivities.

Downtown Phoenix closures near the Convention Center

There will be several events taking place in downtown Phoenix that will close several streets through the first weekend of April.

The image below shows the street closures in red near the Phoenix Convention Center. The following roads will be closed until Apr. 9.

  • 3rd Street (East Washington to East Monroe streets) 
  • East Monroe Street (North 1st to North 2nd streets)
  • East Adams Street (Central Ave to North 1st St)

Detours for east/west traveling drivers: East Van Buren, East Washington, and East Jefferson streets.

Detours for north/south traveling drivers: Central Avenue, North 1st Avenue, and North 7th Street.

On Sunday, Apr. 7, more streets will close near the Phoenix Convention Center. The image below shows the expanded street closures on Sunday. 

  • 2nd Street (East Van Buren to East Washington streets)
  • 3rd Street (East Washington to East Monroe streets) 
  • East Monroe Street (North 1st to North 7th streets)
  • East Adams Street (Central Ave to North 2nd Street)

Detours for east/west traveling drivers: East Van Buren, East Washington, and East Jefferson streets.

Detours for north/south traveling drivers: Central Avenue and North 7th Street.

Hance Park area closures

The Final Four Music Festival will close several streets near Margaret T. Hance Park in downtown Phoenix. The image below shows the street closures in red.

Closed until Apr. 9:

  • North 2nd Street/East Culver Street 
  • East Moreland Street/North 1st Street

Limited closures will continue around Hance Park on Wednesday and Thursday, Apr. 10-11 as crews clean up.
