Police investigating after pedestrian struck, killed in Phoenix

Police said a woman was struck while crossing an intersection near 24th Street and Campbell Avenue late Saturday night.

PHOENIX — Phoenix police said a woman has died after she was struck by a car late Saturday night. 

Police said officers were called to the area of 24th Street and Campbell Avenue around 8 p.m. When units arrived, they found a woman unconscious in the street. First responders pronounced her dead on the scene.

Investigators learned a car driving northbound on 24th Street struck the woman who was in a crosswalk on Campbell Avenue.

The driver told police that he had a green light and the woman had been crossing against it. Police said the driver didn't show signs of impairment, and no arrests were made in the crash.

The woman has not been identified at this time.
