PHOENIX — A woman is dead after a crash at the intersection of 16th Street and Thomas Road Monday morning, Phoenix police said. The roadway will be closed for some time while police investigate.
Officers were called to the area around 4 a.m. for reports of a crash between two vehicles. When they arrived they found that a woman with "obvious signs of trauma."
Investigators believe she was crossing the road at a crosswalk and was struck after the initial collision.
First responders pronounced the woman dead on the scene. One of the drivers was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police did not disclose the identity of the deceased. They also have not released any information on possible causes of the crash.
Police expect the roadway to be closed for the next few hours as detectives investigate the crash.
