MESA, Ariz. — A dump truck crash in the East Valley temporarily down the westbound transition ramp from Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway to both northbound and southbound Loop 101.
The roadway reopened around 8 a.m., according to a report from the Department of Public Safety (DPS), but drivers can expect some delays as traffic clears.
The crash happened shortly after 3 a.m. on Monday when the dump truck struck a concrete barrier on the ramp and rolled onto the roadway.
The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and officials with DPS say that impairment may have played a part in the crash.
Investigators found that the truck damaged the roadway, and repairs were needed before the ramp could reopen.
