MESA, Ariz. — The Arizona Department of Public Safety arrested a wrong-way driver who was allegedly driving impaired on the US 60 early Friday morning.
DPS said at around 2 a.m., troopers received a report of a vehicle traveling east in the westbound lanes of US 60 near Mill Avenue in Tempe.
Troopers said the wrong-way driver nearly struck several vehicles and ultimately stopped near Superstition Springs on US 60.
Troopers took the driver into custody and DPS said impairment is suspected.
DPS said this is an active investigation is ongoing charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
