PHOENIX — Water was bubbling up from the ground and covering a Phoenix roadway after a water main break early Tuesday morning.
The water, covering McKinley Street between 3rd and 4th streets, was pouring in from numerous places, including from below a nearby parking meter. Traffic in the area is restricted.
12 News has reached out to the City of Phoenix Water Services to confirm whether the source of the flooding is coming from a water main break. They have since confirmed crews are working to repair the main break.
The pipe in question was a cast iron water main installed in 1915 said an official with the City of Phoenix Water Services. At 107 years old, that's only 3 years younger than the state of Arizona itself.
Drivers should use other surface streets, such as Roosevelt or Fillmore streets, while waters continue to rise on McKinley.
