28-year-old dead in Tempe crash after car hits pole

Officials said the crash happened near University Drive and Dobson Road.

TEMPE, Ariz. — A 28-year-old man is dead after his car struck a power pole and then caught fire in the East Valley.

The Tempe Police Department said the crash happened Thursday afternoon near University Drive and Dobson Road.

Police said a car crashed into a pole and the driver died at the scene. The deceased person has been identified as 28-year-old Matthew Wilson.
