TEMPE, Ariz. — Three people have died after a crash on Sunday in Tempe in which an SUV caught fire near the Loop 202 and Priest Drive, according to the Tempe Police Department.

Police said one person died at the scene and two others later died at the hospital after a vehicle they were traveling in crashed head-on into a traffic signal light pole.

The SUV involved in the crash burst into flames after hitting the pole. The fire could be seen from Arizona Department of Transportation cameras in the area. Good Samaritans at the scene helped to remove two of the car's occupants and provided medical aid, police said.
